Uwaterloo Fall 2024 Important Dates.

The UWaterloo Important Dates is a guide for the University of Waterloo students to know semester start dates, registration dates, add/drop dates, holidays, reading weeks, exam dates, other important academic dates, and deadlines.

At the University of Waterloo, the academic year is divided into three terms, each lasting four months. The Fall semester is from September to December, the Winter semester is from January to April, and the Spring semester is from May to August. There are about 12 weeks of classes followed by roughly two or three weeks of exams.

1. The course Selection Period for returning students is from May 23, 2024, to June 3, 2024
2. The course Selection Period for new students is from July 2, 2024, to July 9, 2024
3. Next term’s schedule and appointments are available for viewing on July 17, 2024
4. Drop/Add Period Appointments for new students is from July 18, 2024, to July 23, 2024.
5. Drop/Add Period Appointments for returning students are from July 22 to July 23, 2024.
6. Add Period begins (open enrollment) on July 24, 2024.
7. Opt out of optional/voluntary fees deadline is August 20, 2024.
8. Fall 2024 Tuition and fees are due on August 20, 2024.
9. Fees Arranged Extension fees begin on August 21, 2024.
10. Labour Day holiday is Monday, September 2, 2024.
11. Co-operative work term begins on September 3, 2024.
12. UWaterloo fall 2024 classes start on September 4, 2024
13. Reserves are removed on September 11, 2024.
14. Add Period ends on September 17, 2024.
15. Not Fees Arranged (NFA) holds are applied on September 19, 2024.
16. The last day to drop a class from the academic record is September 24, 2024.
17. Tuition and fee refund deadline (100%) is September 24, 2024.
18. Drop with WD begins on September 24, 2024.
19. UWaterloo Fall Reading Week 2024 is from Sunday, October 12, 2024, to Sunday, October 20, 2024. Thanksgiving Day is on October 12, 2024. Classes resume on Monday, October 21, 2024.
20. Tuition and fee refund deadline (50%) is October 18, 2024
21. Convocation for fall 2024 is from October 25, 2024, to October 26, 2024.
22. Drop with WD ends on November 19, 2024, while Drop with WF begins on November 20, 2024.
23. The last day of fall 2024 classes is December 3, 2024.
24. Pre-examination study days are from December 4, 2024 to December 5, 2024
25. Drop with WF ends on December 5, 2024
26. Uwaterloo Fall 2024 Final examinations begin on December 6, 2024.
27. In-person online course exam days are from December 6, 2024, to December 11, 2024.
28. Examinations on Sunday are from December 6, 2024, to December 7, 2024.
29. Final examination emergency days are December 14, 2024, and December 20, 2024.
30. Fall 2024 Final examinations end on December 15, 2024.
31. Co-operative work term ends on December 19, 2024.
32. Fall Grades begin to appear in UWaterloo Quest on December 20, 2024.
33. UWaterloo winter break 2024 is from December 21, 2024, to January 5, 2025.
